New wholesale food market

The Programa Integral de Mercadeo Agropecuario (Agricultural Marketing Program of Costa Rica) presented the EIA to build the facilities of a wholesale food market in Puerto Cortéz, Puntarenas.

The project is called "Brunca Regional Market" and an investment of $47 million is estimated.

Tourism invest in Bahía Ballena

Apparently, the company Un Paseo Al Mar LLC LTDA plans to build a tourist complex in Bahía Ballena, province of Puntarenas that will include a hotel, town houses and apartment towers.

In October they presented the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) at SETENA to get the approval done.

The development is divided into 3 stages.

$500 million to build roads

The National Insurance Institute (INS) would be willing to invest up to $ 500 million in road construction projects that already have the pre-design and studies ready.

The offer applies only for projects called "mature", that is, they already have all the approved permits and pre-designs. The problem with this requirement, according to the executive director Mr.Vargas of the Federated College of Engineers and Architects (CFIA), is that the planning problems faced by CONAVI and the Ministry of Public Works make it impossible to meet this requirement. "Unfortunately it is not the way in which the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) and CONAVI have been working" he commented.

Regional Fruit Market under construction

This is an investment of $ 53 million for a wholesale fruit market located in Sardinal de Carrillo (Guanacaste).
Work started six weeks ago starting in three work fronts: upper warehouse for refrigeration facilities, lower warehouse, administrative building and annex buildings.
This market will allow Guanacaste to have supplies, distribution and commercialization of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and seafood.

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund presented the EIA to build and equip a medicine unit located in San José. According to the study, the project is called "Construction and equipment of the Reproductive Medicine Unit of Women's Hospital Complexity" and approximately $ 8.3 million will be invested.

Business registration

With the implementation of the commercial license process, the time to formalize a company in the cantons of Abangares, Cañas, Tilarán, Bagaces, Liberia and La Cruz was reduced from 40 to 7 days.
A statement the Ministry of Economy explained that in addition to the reduction in the time that takes the process to formalize a company, the time to manage the process to obtain construction permits was  also improved.

Construction prices October 2017

The price index for buildings and low-income housing registered interannual variations of 7.34% and 5.19%, respectively, in October 2017.

The price indexes based on February 2012 are composed of twenty-one statistical indicators, which measure the variation in the prices of the materials used in the construction of different types of works. They are composed of the price index of buildings, the index of prices of affordable housing, and a group of nineteen indexes of prices of inputs and special services.
